Spontaneous Shakespeare Sundays

all the world’s a stage, and all the men, women and children
of the audience are the players...

Come join us on Sunday afternoons this summer in Central Park as we explore the “original” spontaneous technique to putting on a Shakespeare show!

In Shakespeare's day, actors were given "cue scripts" which included only an actor's own lines plus the three cue words preceding his lines-- insuring that actors would stay on their toes! This summer, watch 6 actors recreate this spontaneous approach to the Bard, while members of the audience are invited into the play with cue scripts for cameo roles.

Audience members are also encouraged to "speak the speech" to familiar text, boo and cheer their favorite characters, and create haunting ghosts and jeering crowds. Families are encouraged to attend.

Join us Sundays at 1pm in Central Park at “The Pool” Lawns on August 21 & 28, located near the 103rd street entrance to the park. Look for the tent & Yellow Banner that reads: “Spontaneous Shakespeare Sundays!”

**SHOW CANCELLATION** Our performance originally scheduled for August 28 has been canceled due to Hurricane Irene. We hope you will join us next summer for an exciting new season of Spontaneous Shakespeare Sundays!
