SET PAINTING PARTIES
Your next opportunity to be involved is coming up soon! Our Guys & Dolls Painting and Set building nights are approaching May 10, 11 and May 13. During these painting nights we build and paint sets and props for our show, so that all the rehearsals from this week until opening the kids can practice with everything they will perform with.

We hope you will join us this week for painting nights. They are:

Monday May 10,  6pm-10pm In the Cafeteria
Tuesday May 11, 6:30pm-10pm In the Auditorium
Thursday May 13,  6pm-10pm In the Cafeteria

You may come at any time within the hours that we are there and stay for as long or short as you like. If we exceed 25 people in capacity, we may ask you to come back another time.

Children are welcome, but please make sure that you accompany your children, each child- there is no-drop off coverage. Everyone will be assigned to a set building or painting task, and no one will be on Baby-sitting Patrol, so be ready to keep an eye on your child. We've learned from past experience that having one parent in charge of even their child and a friend, as in a play date, can be disastrous (read: dangerous) for the children. Please know that it is your child's safety we are protecting with this request.  Painting Nights are a great time to be creative, bond with friends and have a great time-- so please come with painting clothes and a ready enthusiasm!

We also still need paint, brushes and old food delivery containers (for water and mixing). If you have these, please bring them to Painting Nights!  Paint should be "house paint" not tempera, and can be any color. You may have some left over from a house project, or you can check with your local hardware store to see if they will give you for free any "returned paint" which they have from customers returning specialty mixes they don't want.

Calling All Artists!
We are requesting Artwork to be created for the poster to publicize the 5th Grade Musical Guys & Dolls. Art teachers Phil and Toni Ann will judge the artwork submitted and select the poster art on May 10. Artwork awarded second prize will be displayed in the lobby beginning May 15 through the nights of the play. The artwork chosen for the poster will be displayed in the school and local businesses, and may be chosen for concession items such as mugs and bags.

Requirements for Artwork:
- Artwork must be submitted by May 7, Friday, to be considered.
- Artwork may be any medium: collage, paint, pencil, markers, digital art, etc. We will be scanning the artwork for the poster.
- Artwork should be no larger than 8.5 x 11
- Artwork may be created by a single artist, a pair or a group of student artists.
- Artwork should leave a blank space for the dates of the show and the title "PS41 5th Grade Musical 2010". Please do not include this information in the artwork, but leave a blank space for it to be added by our team.
- Artwork should be signed on the back by the artist(s)
- Artwork should be submitted to the Art Room, directly to Phil or Toni Ann. Do not "drop off" artwork in the classroom, as it may get lost. You may also deliver your artwork to Phil's mailbox in the main office.
