Volunteer Jobs & Descriptions

 Theatrical terminology Key & Info:
◊	“Run”= Rehearsing a portion of the full show; for example, rehearsing of all of Act 1 from start to finish without stopping after each scene. Runs are scheduled during the school day in the morning.
◊	“Dress” or “Dress Run”= Practicing the complete show wearing full costumes and practicing costume quick changes. Runs are scheduled during the school day in the morning.

COSTUMES
•	Collect costumes- Working from a list that the director & crew create, parents organize costumes that children bring in. We will need one person to Head this category, and several parents to work shifts during Thursday mornings in MAY to organize the costumes as students bring them. Costume collection from students begins MAY 17, continues May 24 & May 31. Need 1-2 people to manage, and a team of 4 people total per collection day.

•	Assist with Show & 2 Dress Runs- Same requirements as Rehearsal monitors (below), but assisting specifically with costume dressing and changes backstage/cafeteria. Need 5 people per show performance and per Dress Run. 

•	Quick Change Volunteer- Volunteers help with quick changes during the show, backstage. 1 person needed for each show date in June. Need 1 person per show performance.

TECHNICAL
•	Rehearsal monitors for Runs and/or Dress rehearsal- Rehearsal monitors supervise the children backstage (cast & crew) during runs of the show in the weeks leading up to performance. You can volunteer to monitor for one run or several. Runs begin end of May and are during the school day. Need 2 people backstage, 1 for each “wing” of the backstage area, per Run day.

•	Crew assistance- Parents assist the crew backstage during runs, guiding them in their set changes. Need 1 person per show performance.

•	A/V- Parents set up the live feed for the camera in the back of the auditorium to a TV in the cafeteria for students to watch during the show. Parents also set up DVD player and projector in auditorium. Must check equipment one week before show. Need 1 person per show performance- can be same one or two persons, but must at each performance!

•	Driver- Person with car who will pick up light and sound rental with director. This happens on June 10 and June 18, no exceptions.


FRONT OF HOUSE
•	Ticket Sales- Manage and organize tickets sales and ticket distribution. Not to worry, we have a system! Need 1-2 people to organize, and many people to implement the different stages. At least 5 people as a guideline.
•	Graphic Design- Manage graphic design for Program, Tickets, poster and merchandise. Students create the actual artwork. Need 1-2 people to handle.

•	Ushers & Security- Recruit and organize parent volunteers for Ushers & Security dates of show. Need 2 Usher/Security each show performance. 

•	PR/Communications- Manage communications of all heads of parent volunteers, point person for contacting all heads. Email aptitude and proficiency a must! Need 1 person.

•	Merchandise & Concessions- Organize sales and manage sellers for merchandise and concessions dates of show. Need 1-2 people to organize, plus team of 3-4 sellers per show performance. ALSO 1 person to sell tickets at door (coordinate with ticket sales volunteer)


SET & PROPS	Most of the Set & Props tasks can be handled at on your own schedule, or during Set & Prop Painting Nights. 
•	Driver & Collector- Person with car who will go to Materials for the Arts with director, in May. Date flexible. Must have a block of several hours available. 

•	Collecting & organizing prop donations- Working from a list that the director & crew create, parents collect and organize prop donations from 5th grade families.
•	Set construction- Carpentry or set design skills a plus! 
•	Scenic Art design- Parents with artistic skill/talents can plot out the scenic art design for the backdrops and side panels; sketching on guidelines for volunteers to paint/fill in.
•	Painting sets- Self-explanatory! We do this on Painting Party nights May 21-May 25.
